JOX · Faith through competition

Jesus Overcame X

By JOX

JOX stands for Jesus Overcame X. JOX helps Christian athletes connect faith with the challenges they encounter in competition through the JOX Framework and Journal.

The JOX mission

Helping athletes find Jesus Christ through the challenges of competition.

Every practice, game, disappointment, and achievement can become an opportunity to know Him more personally.

Our vision

A generation of athletes whose greatest victory is coming to know Jesus Christ.

We envision athletes who faithfully develop the gifts God has entrusted to them, compete with purpose, and use their influence to bless others and glorify God.

What does the X mean?

Your X is what competition reveals: fear, failure, pressure, comparison, injury, success, or another challenge you are carrying. Naming it helps you bring a real experience to Christ instead of keeping faith separate from sport.

What we believe about athletes

God has entrusted every athlete with gifts to develop. Competition can reveal both those gifts and our need for Christ. Faith shapes preparation, character, service, and the way we respond. Athletic success is meaningful, but it cannot define the whole person.

Who created JOX?

Spencer Harman founded JOX. After losing a basketball state championship in his senior year, he struggled with the feeling that he had let others down. Turning to scripture helped him experience peace through Jesus Christ even though the result of the game remained the same.

JOX grew from the desire to help other athletes connect their faith with the pressure and disappointment they experience in sport. Read Spencer's fuller story on the 100 JOX Shepherds page.

The JOX Framework

God Entrusts. Competition Reveals. Christ Transforms. I Respond. These four steps connect reflection with a faithful next action. Learn how to use the JOX Framework.
